The Space

Large industrial tobacco warehouse located 7 miles away from the school. The production team and I took many site visits in order to have an accurate survey of the space. I worked closely with the building manager to get the space into show ready conditions. This included delamping the large gas discharge lamp scoop fixtures as they were not breakered due to the previous safety regulations for a building such as this one.
Ground Supported Positions

The warehouse owners did not allow us to rig from the buildings structure. This meant that all positions must be ground supported. I worked with the school of Filmmaking to borrow the truss tower system shown in the picture to the right. This, along with our other ground supported truss structures, created many of our positions for the main acting space.
21' Boom Pipe structures

Since I could not rig to the building, I had to come up with creative ways to insure all positions were safe and secure. In the picture to the left is a pipe structure I designed and tested in the shop. This structure was made to secure the 21' top heavy booms used in the show. I was limited to small a footprint due to audience and actor pathways. I started with the idea of using a triangle shape structure, because the triangle is known to be one of the strongest structural shapes.
